Beyond Green Update

After a series of mishaps - accidentally locking my boyfreind out of the house, getting lost and jogging to the show late - I finally made it to the show!

There were some good ideas there:

FRUIT is a project by FUTURE FARMERS which engages the user to become more educated about where their fruit comes from. As usual FUTURE FARMERS always make it fun.

I also really liked Kevin Kaempf’s project People Powered which “designs experimental pilot programs that integrate art, environmentalism, and communities. By presenting these projects in exhibitions and public locations in the city, People Powered creates a platform for discussing how these practices may intersect.”

Projects include - recycling paint to make new colors, compost education and reclaiming urban spaces for gardens.

Another cool project is the Material Exchange in chicago set up by Vienese art group Wochen Klausur which creates a network between artist and those who have surplus materials.

We already have a similar program here in new york called materials for the arts - however the materials for the arts is actually a store which is primarily for arts organizations and arts components of organizations, government agencies and NYC DOE schools.
